Takoda Industrial Supplies – Tangible Grant Plan
The Tangible Grant, powered by Takoda Industrial Supplies, supports hands-on, community-driven projects that create visible, lasting impact. For 2025, three $5,000 grants will be awarded to First Nations communities across Ontario. Each project strengthens community connections, builds capacity, and provides tangible tools and infrastructure that last beyond the initial investment.
How to Apply
Eligible Project Streams
Communities may select from one of the following Tangible Project Kits or propose a custom project with similar goals.
Option A: Community Garden Kit + One-Year Education Follow-Up
Includes:
Garden bed lumber package
Soil, seeds, and gardening tools starter set
Educational signage (bilingual/local language optional)
One-year follow-up session on garden maintenance and food sovereignty
Optional collaboration with local schools or Elders for intergenerational learning
Value: $5,000
Outcome: Local food access, land connection, and sustainable community wellness.
Option B: Library & Learning Hub Kit
Includes:
Shelving and furniture package (locally made)
$1,000 in books selected by the community
Laptop/tablet for literacy or resource sharing
Custom sign or plaque recognizing the Nation and donors
Value: $5,000
Outcome: Encourages literacy, community learning, and safe gathering space.
Option C: Sports Field Stands & Community Seating
Includes:
Two wooden bleachers (4-row seating each; material sourced based on availability and local supplier capacity)
One picnic table
One bench
Dedication planks on the bench, table, and stands — engraved with community-selected messages (e.g., “In Honour of Our Elders,” “Youth Champions,” “Community Spirit”)
Delivery coordination and simple installation guidance
Value: $5,000
Outcome: Creates a welcoming, inclusive space for families and youth to gather and connect at community events. Dedication planks personalize each installation and honour the community’s story.
Option D: Community Training & Development Package
Includes:
Intro to Critical Thinking workshop (2 hours, virtual or in person)
Introduction to Project Management session (1 hour)
Three-month access to Takoda Consulting’s Weekly Prompts & Challenges toolkit
Certificates of participation for all attendees
Value: $5,000
Outcome: Builds leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills within the community.
Option E: Construction Starter Kits (10 Individual Kits)
Includes (per kit):
CSA-approved steel-toed boots
Hard hat and safety glasses
High-visibility vest
Work gloves and hearing protection
Tool belt and starter tool set
Value: $5,000
Outcome: Supports local employment readiness and encourages careers in trades and infrastructure.
Option F: Youth Sports Empowerment Package
Includes:
Funding for youth sports programming or equipment (e.g., hockey, soccer, baseball, basketball, or traditional games)
Starter gear package (e.g., sticks, balls, nets, cones, pinnies, or uniforms customized withcommunity name)
Up to $1,000 toward facility or field improvements (paint, repairs, lighting, or storage)
Optional workshop or session on Leadership, Teamwork & Wellness facilitated by Takoda Consulting
Delivery coordination and photoshoot or story feature to celebrate local athletes and coaches
Value: $5,000
Outcome: Encourages physical wellness, teamwork, and leadership among youth. This package helps remove financial barriers to participation, fosters inclusion in sport, and strengthens community pride through accessible recreation opportunities.
Eligibility:
Open to all First Nations communities located in Ontario
Applications accepted from community leadership, organizations, or grassroots groups with Band Council or equivalent approval
Application Requirements:
1. Short description of your community and how the project will make a difference
2. Selection of one Tangible Project Kit or custom $5,000 initiative
3. Contact person for coordination
4. Optional: Photos or brief story of project site

Selection & Follow-Up
Selection Criteria:
Community impact and readiness
Alignment with Takoda’s values (respect, inclusion, long-term benefit)
Demonstration of local leadership or youth engagement
Follow-Up:
Recipients featured on Takoda’s website and social media
Option for Takoda team visit to support installation or celebration
One-year check-in to review project growth and needs
Launch & Communication Plan
Timeline:
Nov 15: Internal prep and materials finalized
Dec 1: Public launch across channels
Dec–Feb: Outreach to Ontario Nations and Tribal Councils
Mar 15: Recipients announced and highlighted online
Promotion Channels:
Direct outreach to Band Offices, Education & Economic Development Officers
Partner emails via Indigenous business networks (CCAB, OFNEDA)
LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook posts with project visuals
Optional short video: “What Does Tangible Change Look Like?” featuring past projects
